Founded in the early 70’s, Ealing Soup Kitchen is run by a group of local churches, and is open every Saturday and Sunday, 3.30pm - 5 pm, in the church room at St. John’s Church, Mattock Lane, West Ealing, W13 and provides hot drinks, soup and sandwiches and a take out of tins and clothes to the poor and needy in the area.
Average attendances have increased significantly over the past few months; we now get up to 90 guests. The local churches have been able to employ a part time worker called Daphne who is always present at the kitchen, giving much needed continuity.
The work has expanded to include advice on housing and benefits, including accompanying clients to appointments with the council.
We always need help, especially now the numbers have increased. If you would be interested in becoming a Befriender to one of the Ealing Soup Kitchen Clients mainly visiting every fortnight with another person outside of the regular sessions, please could you contact "The Worker with the Homeless" Daphne Edwards on 07749 253365 or St. Johns 020 8566 3507 and arrange an interview.
We also need prayer, for Soup Kitchen guests to put addictions and personal hurt behind them and rediscover purpose and hope in life through our living God.
